The Ashanti Kingdom is in deep mourning following the death of its Queen Mother, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, announced by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Council.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III held the second-highest position in the kingdom’s traditional hierarchy and was celebrated for her wisdom, devotion to Asante customs, and loyalty to the royal lineage. She was the 14th Asantehemaa and took office in 2017, following the death of her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II. As the biological sister of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Konadu Yiadom III played a pivotal role in preserving cultural traditions and offered unshakable support to her brother’s reign.

A one-week observance will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, with further funeral details to be communicated by the Manhyia Palace after traditional protocols are observed. Her demise marks the end of an era for the Ashanti Kingdom.
