The Bolgatanga Technical Institute (BOTECH) has been shut down indefinitely due to violent student unrest. The disturbances, which began on Thursday, August 14, saw students set fire to parts of the campus, causing extensive property damage.
The violence resulted in the destruction of the school’s library and senior housemaster’s office. The specific cause of the riot is still under police investigation, but past incidents have been linked to issues such as strict examination invigilation and poor living conditions.
