President John Dramani Mahama, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, held his maiden Presidential Media Encounter since assuming office for his second term. The event, hosted at the Jubilee House, brought together senior editors, journalists, and media practitioners from across Ghana, marking the President’s renewed commitment to transparency and engagement.

In his opening remarks, President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s focus on inclusive growth and national unity.

This second term is not about repeating the old ways but about resetting our priorities to meet the needs of every Ghanaian,” he said.

Touching on education reforms, the President emphasized the need to modernize learning.

We cannot prepare our children for yesterday’s world. Our mission is to equip them with the skills and knowledge to thrive in tomorrow’s economy,” he explained.

On the economy, President Mahama acknowledged the difficulties posed by global and domestic challenges but maintained that his government was on the right path. “

We are taking bold steps to stabilize the cedi, empower local businesses, and ensure that job creation is not a slogan but a reality,” he assured.

The President also addressed concerns about tough policy decisions, stressing the importance of long-term planning.

Leadership is not about always choosing the easy path. Some of our decisions may not be immediately popular, but they are necessary to secure Ghana’s future,” he noted.

Journalists at the session raised questions ranging from corruption to infrastructure and trade. Responding, Mahama stressed his government’s commitment to accountability.

We are not running from scrutiny; in fact, we welcome it. My government is determined to remain open, responsive, and accountable to the people we serve,” he declared.

The encounter, the first in a series of planned engagements, gave Ghanaians a candid glimpse into the President’s vision, challenges, and priorities as he steers the nation through his second term.
