A devastating collision between a commercial bus and a trailer carrying cement has resulted in the loss of seven lives on the Offinso-Abofuor Highway in the Ashanti region. The accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, January 7, 2026, between the Samproso and Awisam communities near Offinso.
According to eyewitness accounts, the trailer experienced engine failure while attempting to set off from a nearby cement factory, leaving it stranded in the middle of the road. The oncoming bus, reportedly traveling at high speed, collided with the trailer, resulting in a tragic incident that claimed six lives on the spot, with one additional victim succumbing to injuries at the hospital.
The injured have been rushed to the St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso Maase for medical attention. The police have taken over the scene, working to clear the road and conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
