The government has strongly denied allegations made by the Minority in Parliament regarding the alleged inflation of costs for sanitary pads procured for schoolgirls.
According to the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, the claims are unfounded and misleading. He explained that the prices of the sanitary pads range from GHS 19 to GHS 24 per pack, depending on the supplier’s location and delivery region.
Dr. Apaak emphasized that the procurement process was transparent and fair, and the prices quoted are reasonable considering the costs associated with delivery and distribution.
He urged the public to disregard the allegations, emphasizing that they lack merit and are likely driven by political motives. The government remains committed to providing essential support to schoolgirls, ensuring they have access to quality education without hindrance.
