President John Dramani Mahama has showered praise on the BuzstopBoys, a youth-led volunteer group championing cleanliness in Ghana, for their unwavering commitment to environmental sanitation. He described them as true patriots and role models whose efforts deserve national recognition.
Speaking at the official relaunch of the National Sanitation Day on Saturday, Mahama demonstrated his admiration with a massive donation of 200 wheelbarrows, 300 shovels, 300 brooms, 300 pairs of gloves, and several standing brushes to support the group’s nationwide sanitation activities.
“I first came across their work on social media last year and was truly inspired by their passion and consistency. They call themselves the BuzstopBoys, and I believe they represent the spirit of a clean and responsible Ghana. I want to commend them for their remarkable efforts,” he said.
Mahama emphasized that a cleaner environment is essential for national health and development, calling on every Ghanaian to play a part. He further announced that National Sanitation Day will now be observed on the first Saturday of every month across all 16 regions and 261 districts, as part of efforts to reset Ghana’s commitment to hygiene and public health.
The BuzstopBoys, who started as a small group cleaning bus stops in Accra, have now become a symbol of volunteerism and civic responsibility, inspiring many young Ghanaians to join the fight against filth.
