The Ministry of Youth and Sports has removed a $5,000 allocation earmarked by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for fueling the Black Stars’ team bus during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. This decision comes as part of a comprehensive review that slashed more than $732,000 from the GFA’s proposed budget for the qualifiers against Chad and Mali.

Speaking on the adjustments, the Ministry explained that the cuts were necessary to ensure prudent use of public funds while still guaranteeing essential needs for the national team.

Revised Budget Details

Fuel for team bus: $5,000 removed entirely

Imprest/Incidental expenses: Reduced from $60,000 to $20,000 ($40,000 cut)

Facility user fees: $2,000 removed

Management officials’ allowance: $60,000 removed

Bonuses for players and staff: Significantly reduced

Vehicle rentals, meals, and accommodation: Adjusted downward

Per diems: Reduced

Following the review, the final approved budgets are:

Matchday 7 vs Chad: $856,890

Matchday 8 vs Mali: $463,600

Despite these reductions, the Ministry assured that core necessities—including travel, accommodation, meals, medical care, and charter flights—remain fully covered to ensure the team performs at its best.
