A heartbreaking incident has occurred in the Gbawe Zero Machandi Estate, located in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality of the Greater Accra Region. Two young children, aged five and seven, tragically lost their lives after falling into an uncovered drainage system. The children had gone missing on Sunday, and their bodies were discovered in the drain.
Residents of the area have expressed deep concern and frustration, citing that the drainage system has long been a hazard. Despite their repeated pleas to the authorities to address the issue, no action was taken to cover or properly fix the drainage.
The community now fears that the situation may deteriorate further with the onset of heavy rains, which are already causing erosion and damaging the main road in the area.
