Reggae-dancehall artiste Ras Kuuku is making a case for himself to be included in the bill if Jamaican superstar Vybz Kartel ever performs in Ghana. According to Ras Kuuku, his contribution to the growth of reggae-dancehall in Ghana makes him a key figure in the genre.
Ras Kuuku believes a lineup featuring himself and four other artistes would electrify any stage. The artistes he’d choose to share the stage with are Samini, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, and Iwan. He describes these artistes as pillars of Ghana’s reggae-dancehall movement, with Iwan playing a crucial behind-the-scenes role in producing dancehall rhythms for new artistes.
Ras Kuuku emphasizes his pivotal role in fusing reggae and dancehall genres in Ghana, stating, “We built reggae-dancehall. There used to be reggae and dancehall as separate genres, but we fused them together and made it happen from 2010 till date.” A potential collaboration with Vybz Kartel would undoubtedly create fireworks on stage.
