A disturbing incident unfolded at the Alpha Hour auditorium, where a woman was caught on camera allegedly attempting to set the premises ablaze during a prayer session. The suspect, who had blended in seamlessly with the congregants, was observed pouring a liquid substance, believed to be petrol, on chairs positioned near the altar. Fortunately, the CCTV footage was being monitored by vigilant personnel, who swiftly alerted the church’s security team.
The security officers sprang into action, apprehending the woman at the scene and extinguishing the fire before it could spread and cause extensive damage. The incident has raised serious concerns, particularly given the location of the fire, which was near the pastor’s office – an area with a single exit. The potential danger this act posed to the lives of those present is alarming.
In response to the incident, Pastor Elvis Agyemang, the convener of Alpha Hour, announced the indefinite suspension of all physical prayer meetings at the auditorium. However, he assured congregants that the ministry’s spiritual activities would continue uninterrupted. “This will not deter us,” he emphasized. “We will restore the facility, and prayers will resume.”
Notably, this is not the first time the Alpha Hour auditorium has been targeted. Pastor Agyemang revealed that the premises had suffered similar attacks in recent times, including incidents where individuals were caught on CCTV spreading powders and strange substances, as well as bringing idols into the auditorium.
The suspect is currently in custody, and the police are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. As the investigation unfolds, the community is left to grapple with the unsettling reality of such a brazen attack on a place of worship.
