The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Ghana’s Embassy in Tehran, Iran, will reopen effective September 16, 2025. The embassy was temporarily closed on June 16, 2025, due to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel but will now resume operations following a significant improvement in the security situation.

The decision to reopen the embassy reflects the government’s confidence in the stabilized security conditions, which will allow for the restoration of consular services for Ghanaians living in Iran and facilitate bilateral trade and diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reassures the public that it will continue to monitor developments in the region closely to ensure the safety of both diplomatic staff and Ghanaians residing in Iran. Ghana remains committed to protecting the interests of its citizens abroad and will provide updates as necessary.
