Joana, the former wife of prominent Ghanaian business mogul Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ), has petitioned the Accra High Court for an injunction barring him from selling, transferring, or otherwise disposing of company shares, luxury vehicles, prime properties, and additional assets. The application seeks to preserve the estate until the Court of Appeal adjudicates her claim for an expanded share of the marital wealth.

In her filing, Joana asserts that she deferred her own education at UPSA, held multiple jobs, and channeled personal savings toward financing Quaye’s studies and a 2008 trip to the United Kingdom. She further alleges that in 2009 she provided the seed capital for their joint microfinance enterprise—originally launched as Quick Credit and later rebranded as Bills Micro-Credit—which commenced operations in 2010, coinciding with their marriage.

According to the suit, Quaye unilaterally removed her as a shareholder in 2017 and as a director in 2021 without her consent. Court documents state that Quaye has acknowledged this removal during proceedings.

The outcome of the pending appeal is expected to determine the extent of Joana’s entitlement to the assets accumulated during the marriage.
