The Ghana Water Limited has announced plans to shut down the Kwanyaku Water Treatment Plant due to alarmingly high turbidity levels caused by alluvial mining from upstream.

The company will use drone technology to monitor the mining activities and report findings to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. Despite the shutdown, GWL assures residents of increased water supply to meet demand, having recently completed repairs at the Kpong and Weija treatment plants.
