One Dead, Others Injured in Acid-Involved Clash Between Mankesim and Ekumfi Ayisam Youth

A violent confrontation between the youth of Mankesim and Ekumfi Eyisam in Ghana’s Central Region has resulted in one fatality and several injuries. The clash, which erupted on January 1, 2026, is believed to have originated from a long-standing misunderstanding between the two communities.

 

The tensions escalated when a group of young men from Ekumfi Eyisam were allegedly harassed at a filling station in Mankesim. The situation rapidly deteriorated, with both sides engaging in a fierce battle involving firearms, cutlasses, and corrosive substances.

 

The violence claimed the life of one individual, identified as Wisdom, while several others sustained serious injuries, including acid burns and cutlass wounds. The incident sent shockwaves through the community, prompting residents to flee their homes in search of safety.

 

In response to the violence, the police deployed personnel to the area to restore calm and maintain law and order. Authorities are currently working to contain the situation and investigate the circumstances surrounding the clash.
