A planned power interruption is scheduled for Cape Coast and surrounding towns in the Central Region on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The outage, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., is part of major improvement works on electricity transmission facilities in the area.

Engineers will be replacing the existing transformer at the Cape Coast Substation with a more powerful unit to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the national transmission network.

The upgrade aims to increase the substation’s capacity, improve power quality, and support additional residential and commercial connections. Authorities apologize for any inconvenience and assure the public that necessary precautions are being taken to complete the work on schedule and restore power promptly.
